Im so excited to embark on this journey. I have tons of new material to try out for these college kids and I plan to write a lot over the next few months. I recently created a blog page so you can follow me on the road. Just go to whereskailin.com. I’m still in the process of adding dates and some new videos but you can at least check it out!
Anyway, gotta go work on music.

Hey there!
Wow. Feels like forever since I’ve written a blog. I hope you’re having a wonderful summer so far. Cant believe it will be August next week! A lot of things are happening and I can’t wait to share everything with you. Right now Im getting ready for my fall tour. I’ll be playing at approximately 35 schools all around the US from Sept-December. I’m in the process of getting my myspace up and running with new additions before I leave for this tour. I’m also writing a lot of songs that I will be recording VERY soon! Once they’re done I will post a link on here so you can listen to them. Im trying to decide if Im going to move out of my apartment in September. Right now I live on Macdougal street in Greenwich village. I’ve been here for about three years now and have enjoyed every second of it. I love being able to walk outside and hear music playing in the park, see artists painting on the street and grab a tea where Bob Dylan used to play. Apparently he wrote some tunes in my building which is extremely inspiring! There’s a magic about the village and I’d hate to leave that… We’ll see where life takes me!
Anyway, gotta go work on some tunes. Have a great week.
Peace & Love,
Kailin

I’ve had this nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach ALL day long. Now I know what it is, I drank an Americano this morning before I started writing and I NEVER drink coffee. I was meeting up with a producer/friend of mine and he wanted to go to his favorite coffee shop on the lower east side, I obliged and now my stomach feels absolutely horrible! I really don’t even like coffee, I always have to put so much sugar in it and I feel like that takes it away from the whole point of drinking it! Me, Im more of a Chamomile tea kind of gal. I love to have a cup of Chamomile in the morning, the smell of the flowers, the sweet taste in your mouth..thats my thing! So now Im sitting on my couch with knots in the pit of my stomach, NOT FUN!! I’m pretty excited though, I posted a new song of mine on my myspace site last night. Check it out if you have a second. I wrote it a few weeks ago and recorded it at my friend, Jesse Gage’s studio in Woodstock, NY the week before last. He’s singing the other vocals and I really love how it came out! Its still a rough demo, I think we’re gonna add some drums to it, but at least you’ll get the idea. I picture a whole chorus of people singing with me at the end of the song. There have been debates in my family about whether or not I should take out the yelling parts I sing and quite honestly I like when Im yelling. Its rough, its real, its me! I wanted this song to be an anthem type song not a pretty song…”LET IT BE BEAUTIFUL” ..you know?? Just let it be beautiful today!! Get the idea???? Maybe not, but I like it!
Have a great night. off to a gig!
Peace & Love always,
Kailin

This is absolutely outrageous. Please help & read below!
Help stop AIG’s outrageous bonuses
Hi,
The people at AIG who are most responsible for the severity of the financial crisis should be in jail. But instead, they’re slated to get $450 million in bonuses. Unbelievable, right?
I signed a petition urging Secretary Geithner and Congress to do whatever it takes to cancel these bonuses. Can you join me at the link below?

Thanks!

I’ve decided I’m going to write a blog once a week because A. it helps keep me sane and B. I enjoy letting you know what I’ve been up to. Right now Im in New York city, sitting on my couch and working on lyrics, lyrics & lyrics. I plan to write one song a day, so far I’ve written one so the plan hasn’t worked out completely but I’m gonna make a real effort to stick to this. I’ve heard its good for the mind and will help me stay inspired…For as long as I can remember, I’ve written with luck and that’s basically it. It usually just comes out at random times but I want to be able to write whenever I want to, not only if I’m suddenly inspired. So that’s what’s on my mind right here, right now. I was in California a few weeks ago at a songwriting expo and suddenly had this epiphany that living there might be something I should try in the near future. I’m so torn because I LOVE the city..the music, culture, food, energy, its such a great place to learn and grow as an artist, however, I have this nagging feeling that it’s time to move on for a bit, time to experience something else. I’m not sure though, its just a little thought inside my brain.. I’ll keep it tucked away for now and wait until my lease is up this fall. I’ll be on a few college tours this September-December so I might not even need to figure this out until January! Life is soooo good, isn’t it? Right now I feel good..I was in the airport on my way home from CA and realized, when you’re feeling good its like the whole world is winking at you and when you’re feeling bad, it spits at you, nothing goes right..NOTHING! It’s really all in your thoughts and what you choose to believe your day is, nothing more, nothing less.
Anyway, just felt like writing. Back to music.
Have a wonderful week!
Peace & Love,
Kailin

So much has happened in the last few weeks. I cam home from my trip and it feels like life has gone by so fast. Im usually the type of person who runs in a million different directions at once without coming up for air. I’ve decided to breath for the moment, at least while I write this blog anyway. I was in Nashville last week and had such an incredible, wonderful, fantastic trip! I was performing a showcase for NACA (National Association for Campus Activities). My Showcase was on Monday, the 16th in front of approximately 1500 college students. It was just me and my guitar and I was nervous, really nervous! It wasn’t like a normal show where everyone is there to support you or at least listen to some music. These kids were there to judge, to see what we could do… I really had to prove to them that I was completely worth bringing onto their campus and I DID! I remember looking at a picture of the Beatles on someone’s laptop right before I was to go on stage and thinking to myself, If they can do it, so can I. I went out there and I was completely confident, relaxed and myself. I nailed the performance and as a result have booked about 50+ college shows. They can all be found on my myspace site as I continue to add them in. I’m really excited to be on the road! I absolutely love traveling, the freedom of the open road, flying to different places, exploring the United States. I really can’t wait to have an international tour but this will definitely do for now..Its a start, my career is beginning and I can’t wait to share every moment with you.
Peace & Love always,
Kailin

Hey there!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I can’t believe it’s 2009 already. I’m really excited to start this year, so many good things ahead!
I just returned from China and Thailand. I was there for two weeks and had an amazing time. My family and I arrived on the 18th of December in Hong Kong which is a major city in China, its extremely cosmopolitan. We were there for four days discovering the city. On our last day, we took a trip outside the city and climbed 200 stairs arriving at the largest bronze buddhist statue in the world called “Tian Tan”, it was absolutely incredible. I’m very into meditation and buddhism so I was really excited to see that. After Hong Kong, we flew to Bangkok Thailand, I was in heaven! The culture is just so unique and beautiful. Everyone was so kind, we went on these wooden boats up a river called the “river of Kings” one day. I saw woman and children in their broken down huts, weaving, cooking, studying us foreigners. I saw little boys splashing in the water, water that would make us extremely sick if we tasted it. We took the boat to this famous temple called “Temple of the Emerald Buddha” because it houses a small two foot jade statue of Buddha which rests upon a huge golden alter. The temple is very elaborately decorated with a rich array of colors. This Buddhist temple is also significant in that it is the official royal chapel where the revered Thai royal family goes to perform their religious ceremonies. For the rest of the time we walked around the city of Bangkok, eating different food and getting a taste of this incredible culture. We left bangkok on the 26th and headed to Trang, Thailand. Trang has numerous exotic islands and natural wonders. Where we were staying, we were able to take a boat to this underwater cave..we swam underneath and it turned into an inland emerald green lagoon… I would wake up almost every morning @ 6:30 am to do yoga and kayak down this beautiful river. I just LOVE the outdoors..the placidity of the water in the morning, the birds chirpping in the trees, the smell of salt water, fish swimming so calmly. I can’t get enough of the outdoors. At sunset I would take my guitar to the beach, clear my mind, and just play for as long as the sunset lasted. At night a filipino couple sang songs on the beach while everyone ate dinner and the last night I was there, I decided to play as well, it was such a fantastic time. This trip meant so much to me, it’s definitely confirmed my desire to travel. I can’t wait to explore the world, really see what’s out there. I have a strong desire and passion for Africa, I hope to go there sometime soon as well. Helping people is what I want to do most in the world. I hope to go around the world, playing my music and helping as many people as I can. That’s my dream.
Anyway, just wanted to share my trip with you. It will forever be in my heart.
Peace & Love,
Kailin
